GCC-Stat:Labor force in GCC countries reaches 31.8 million
According to Amac News, based on the GCC-Stat statistics, male workers accounted for 78.7 percent and female workers accounted for 17.6 percent of this total.
The number of employed citizens in the GCC countries reached 5.6 million, accounting for 23.4 percent of the total labor force, of which 60 percent are men and 40 percent are women.
The GCC-Stat data also showed that since 2011, the number of employed women in the region has increased by 600,000.
The data indicates that the public sector remains the largest employer for Gulf workers. The percentage of citizens employed in the public sector reached 83.5 percent and in the private sector reached 14.2 percent.
The statistics also showed that GCC citizens are mainly employed in the service sector, especially in public administration activities.
The GCC countries have introduced policies for labor localization, such as the GCC Common Market and the Comprehensive Development Strategy, which are designed to address imbalances in population structure, labor distribution, and industrial development. These policies aim to increase the share of the national labor force in the industrial sector.
In addition, the population strategy seeks to strengthen the role of women in development, balance the population and labor structures, and improve the training programs of the national labor force.
All GCC countries prioritize youth, promote economic diversification efforts, and move towards the creation of green and environmentally friendly jobs.
