According to Amac News: DBS East and DBS West offshore wind farms, capable of supplying electricity to three million typical British homes, are located in the shallow waters of the Dogger Bank, more than 100 km off the northeast coast of England.
Acceptance of the DCO application moves the projects into the pre-examination phase, which will be subject to public review in late 2024.
RWE and Masdar's investment during development and construction is expected to provide an economic contribution (gross value added) to the UK of approximately £1 billion, including £400 million in the Humber region.
In total, these projects will have up to 200 turbines with an estimated capacity of three gigawatts.
The DBS offshore wind farms represent Masdar's commitment to building the just energy system of tomorrow, and we are excited to be one step closer to making it a reality.
RWE will lead the development, construction and operation on behalf of project partners RWE (51% stake) and Masdar (49% stake). RWE signed lease agreements with The Crown Estate for two DBS projects in January 2023.
In December 2023, Masdar announced that it had acquired a 49% stake in DBS offshore wind projects. The shareholding agreement between the companies was finalized in February 2024.
DBS projects will make a significant economic contribution to the region, supporting the UK's clean ambitions and boosting its wider economic growth and energy security.
