Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), reviewed the performance of sustainable energy projects at the 83rd meeting of the Supreme Energy Council.
According to Amac News: This meeting was held virtually under the chairmanship of Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the head of the Supreme Energy Council.
In this meeting, the council reviewed plans and projects aimed at achieving sustainable development through clean and renewable energy projects and the transition to a green economy.
These initiatives aim to establish Dubai's position as a global benchmark for water and energy efficiency to achieve savings of at least 30% by 2030 and 50% by 2050 compared to business-as-usual electricity and water.
Quality projects are focused on increasing electricity generation from solar energy, reducing water and electricity consumption, increasing the number of electric vehicle charging stations, reusing wastewater, and reducing carbon emissions.
Last year, Dubai reduced electricity consumption by 15.9% to 9.7 terawatt hours and water consumption by 12.4% to 18.8 billion imperial gallons (BIG). This financial savings is approximately equivalent to 14.6 billion dirhams.
