Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that it has commissioned eight new 132 kV transmission substations in the first half of 2024 with a conversion capacity of 1,200 Mega Volt Amps (MVA) at a cost of 1.36 billion dirhams.

According to Amac News: Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, CEO of DEWA, ​​said that these projects also included 89 kilometers of underground cables to continue increasing the efficiency of the 132 kV transmission network in Dubai and meet the demand for electricity across the UAE.
New transfer stations were launched in Al-Thaniya 3, Al-Barsha South 4, Wadi al-Shabak, Nadd Hessa, International City Phase 2, Wadi al-Safa 5 and Umm Suqiem 3.
Completing these posts required more than 8 million hours of safe work using the latest global digital technologies for transfer posts.
The total number of transfer posts across Dubai reached 382 by the end of June 2024. It consists of 27 substations of 400 kV and 355 substations of 132 kV.
 There are 31 132kV substations under construction and DEWA is considering financial proposals for 6 new 132kV substations.
DEWA has also awarded projects for the extension of 132 kV underground cables to connect the new transmission substations to the main electricity transmission network with a total length of 25 km and a total cost of up to 176 million dirhams.
