The Children's Rescue Fund has published a report that the increase in climate change in Afghanistan has forced at least 38 thousand people to leave their homes this year.
According to Amac News: This international organization has stated in its report that drought, extreme heat, floods, landslides, avalanches and storms in Afghanistan displaced 38 thousand people in the first six months of this year.
The report noted that out of these 38,000 displaced people, about half of them are children.
The report added that at the end of 2023, Afghanistan had the largest number of homeless children due to climate disasters among the countries of the world, with more than 737,000 people.
According to the report, while most of the displacements in the last few decades were due to war, but since 2022, climatic disasters, especially drought, have become the main reason for people to flee their homes.
The Save the Children Fund has written that Afghanistan is the sixth most vulnerable country to the effects of climate change, and on the other hand, it is one of the countries that has the least ability to deal with these effects.
This is despite the fact that the Children's Rescue Fund had previously announced that 40,000 children became homeless and 200 others died due to floods in Afghanistan.
