According to Amac News: The World Food Program has written in its X that this year it supported 1.6 million pregnant and lactating mothers against malnutrition.
The organization's message states: "Since the beginning of this year, the World Food Program has supported more than 1.6 million pregnant and lactating mothers with specialized nutritious food to prevent and treat malnutrition in Afghanistan."
WFP added that this summer, however, due to lack of funding, more than 600,000 mothers will not receive these benefits.
This is despite the fact that several aid organizations, including several organizations affiliated to the United Nations, had announced the reduction of their budget and aid to the people of Afghanistan.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a report that in 2024, it received only 22.8% of the requested budget to provide humanitarian aid to the needy Afghans.
Ocha added that this lack of funding has cut off health and food aid to millions of Afghans.
