Officials in the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan say that in the past year, more than 2,000 domestically produced drugs have been marketed and licenses have been distributed to 15 drug factories.

According to Amac News: Mohammad Hassan Gheyasi, Deputy Minister of Planning and Development of the Ministry of Public Health, says that the Ministry has released 2,316 drugs of domestic production to the market in the past year.
Gheyasi added that the ministry has also distributed activity licenses for 15 drug manufacturing factories, 151 drug supply companies and 179 wholesalers.
He stated that Afghanistan has reached self-sufficiency in serum production and has exported serum to Arab countries in the past year.
Deputy Minister of Planning and Development of the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan added that the signing of the cooperation agreement with 180 institutions providing health services and the registration of 184 institutions active in the health sector are other activities of this ministry.
According to Gheyasi, in the last one year, this ministry has managed to burn 1,610 tons of medicine and health and food products of the past throughout the country.
He emphasized that during the last year, the vaccination rate increased from 65% to 80% and a total of 85 million 99 thousand 750 children and mothers were vaccinated.
Sharafat Zaman Amarkhil, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Health, said that in the past year, the Ministry has managed to perform major surgery on more than 255 thousand people and minor surgery on nearly 400 thousand people.
