The UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade said in a statement that The UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmad Al Zeyoudi met with Eurasian Economic Commission Minister-in-Charge of Trade Andrey Slepnev in Moscow.
According to Amac News: The two sides discussed expanding trade and investment opportunities between the UAE and the Eurasian bloc (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The two ministers also reviewed the progress of ongoing negotiations towards a comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which is at an advanced stage and will establish a framework, the statement said.
In the dialogue, ministers discussed areas with the greatest potential for their respective private sector, including logistics, manufacturing, agriculture and transport and the growing opportunity for the North-South Trade Corridor linking the UAE and Russia, They emphasized.
Dr. Sani said the UAE's commitment to open and rules-based trade is a key pillar of its economic policy and that the UAE's pursuit of stronger ties with key partners around the world will help drive non-oil foreign trade to unprecedented levels.
"The Eurasian Economic Union, with its industrial capabilities, strong food production sector and strategic position spanning two continents, is the main focus of these efforts, and my discussions this week emphasize the common vision of closer economic integration," he said.
Andrey Slepnev said tangible results had been achieved after four rounds of negotiations on the Economic Partnership Agreement.
The Eurasian Economic Union has been one of the UAE’s key partners since its formation a decade ago. In the first half of 2024, the value of non-oil trade between the UAE and Eurasian Economic Union members reached US$13.7 billion, up 29.6% from the same period in 2023.
