The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has requested resident legal entities with licenses issued in October and November, regardless of the year of issue, to submit their corporate tax registration application no later than November 30, 2024.
FTA: Companies to register by end of month
According to Amac News: FTA, in a press release published today, informed taxable persons to adhere to the specified deadlines for the registration of taxable persons and companies.
The FTA said it will set deadlines for each category of person, including corporate tax, to submit their corporate tax registration applications.
The department noted that based on Cabinet Decision No. 75 of 2023 on Administrative Penalties for violations related to the application of Federal Law No. 47 of 2022 on Corporate and Business Taxation and its amendments, administrative penalties will be imposed.
According to the department, these penalties are applied to taxpayers who refuse to submit their company's tax registration application within the specified time frames.
In addition, the FTA explained that the decision applies to legal entities and natural persons, whether resident or non-resident, adding that legal entities that are resident and incorporated before March 1, 2024, or otherwise established or recognized, they must submit their company tax registration application accordingly.
Likewise, for taxable persons who have multiple licenses on March 1, 2024, the deadline is determined by the license with the first issuance date. If a taxable person has a license that expires on March 1, 2024, the registration deadline is still based on the month of license issuance.
FTA announced that registration for corporate tax purposes is available 24 hours a week through the EmaraTax digital tax service platform.
The registration process is simplified into four main steps that take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The platform also allows VAT or excise registrants to access their accounts directly through the platform.
Meanwhile, the FTA asked taxable individuals and companies that have not yet registered to create a new username through the EmaraTax platform at eservices.tax.gov.ae using their email address and mobile number. Once the account is successfully created, the registration can be completed by identifying the taxable person, selecting the 'Register for Company Tax' option and completing the remaining simple steps.
In addition, these individuals and companies can register directly through the EmaraTax digital tax service platform or through authorized tax agents listed on the FTA website. They can also apply for corporate tax registration to several government service centers across the country that provide their services electronically in accordance with government service standards and under the supervision of qualified and trained personnel.
