Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has announced that it has started a trade mission to Uganda and Kenya on behalf of Sharjah Export Development Center (SEDC).
SCCI explores investment opportunities with Africa
According to Amac News: Based on the organization's announcement, this trade mission, which will last from November 11 to 14, is part of SCCI's annual initiatives to expand bilateral trade cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and East African countries.
Kenya and Uganda, at the helm of this relationship, are witnessing significant economic growth, making this mission particularly timely.
The business delegation, led by Abdullah Sultan Al Awais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, includes board members of the Chamber and prominent business leaders and representatives of major industrial and commercial companies based in the emirate.
The first stage of this business trip in Kenya includes an investment conference that will be held with the presence of representatives of local companies and large economic organizations.
The conference explores cooperation opportunities in key sectors such as oil and gas, construction materials and infrastructure, logistics, food products and automotive parts.
The conference will include workshops and discussion panels that will introduce investment opportunities in the UAE and African markets and facilitate effective partnerships between UAE and Kenyan companies.
Abdullah Sultan Al-Awais emphasized the importance of strengthening economic partnerships with East African countries and identifying investment opportunities in this key region. He expressed hope that the mission could strengthen cooperation between Sharjah's business community and its counterparts in Kenya and Uganda.
He also emphasized that the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce is committed to continuing efforts to build cultural bridges and deepen economic relations between the UAE and Kenya.
The volume of non-oil trade between the two countries reached more than 3.06 billion US dollars in 2023, which has increased by 26.4% compared to 2022.
Al-Awais also pointed to the exceptional growth of trade relations between the UAE and Uganda over the past decade, with non-oil trade increasing from approximately $228.7 million in 2015 to approximately $1.226 billion in 2023, indicating the strength and depth of economic ties between the two countries. SCCI said the mission in Uganda will also include bilateral trade talks and visits to local companies and factories so that the UAE delegation can gain a deeper understanding of local production mechanisms and the needs of the Ugandan market.
