 An Iranian official has stated that over the past eight months, 10,285 tons of zinc ore have been imported from Bamiyan province in Afghanistan to Iran.

According to Amac News: Mehdi Shirdel, the governor of Taybad city, mentioned in an interview with an Iranian media outlet on Saturday, November 23, that this amount of ore was valued at over $3,968,000 upon entering Iran.
The official noted that most of the zinc ore was transferred from Bamiyan to Herat and then entered Iranian territory from there. He further added that zinc ore was first imported from Afghanistan through the Dogharoun border last year, and the imports are ongoing.
The Iranian official also mentioned that with the importation of these ores, a good interaction has been established with Afghan economic actors.
Zinc is one of the most important and widely used non-ferrous metals after copper and aluminum, and it is utilized in various industries due to its desirable properties.
