The Abu Dhabi International Financial Center (ADGM) announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Beijing Financial Street Services Authority during the Abu Dhabi Financial Week 2024, on the sidelines of the UAE-China Investment Summit hosted by HSBC.
Abu Dhabi and Beijing Form Strategic Financial Partnership
According to Amac News: Based on the announcement of ADGM, this strategic agreement is a mutual commitment to strengthen relations, especially in the fields of international development and industry promotion, and will contribute to the growth of Beijing Financial Street and ADGM.
Chinese Ambassador to the UAE Zhang Yiming said the MoU highlights the UAE's role as a gateway for Chinese companies in the Middle East.
This strategic partnership builds on a memorandum of understanding that was first signed in September 2018 between the Beijing Financial Street Services Administration and ADGM Financial Services Regulatory Authority.
Most recently, in August 2024, Liu Dongwei, the mayor of Beijing's Shisheng District, visited Abu Dhabi with a delegation that led to an agreement to further strengthen bilateral ties.
Regarding the cooperation, Lu Wuxig, General Manager of the Beijing Financial Street Service Administration, said that through platforms such as the Financial Street Forum and Abu Dhabi Financial Week, they aim to promote industrial exchanges, encourage the establishment of cross-border businesses, and advance the coordinated development of Beijing as a management center.
