The head of DoE, Avida Murshid Al Mera, who received the award, called it representative of the innovative projects and policies that the Abu Dhabi Water Department has implemented to bring about effective changes in water sustainability.
The Gala Awards Ceremony at the IDRA World Congress 2024 brought together experts and leaders in the fields of desalination, water recycling and sustainability to celebrate advances related to the Congress's mission.
The 2024 IDRA World Congress, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Energy and titled "Combating Water Scarcity", explored the pressing challenges in the water sector and advanced discussions on sustainability, resilience and innovation.
More than 1,200 participants from more than 50 countries attended the congress, making it one of the largest gatherings of water industry leaders, innovators and policy makers in the region.
The Congress included the presentation of more than 225 research papers and the holding of more than 100 technical sessions, all dedicated to sharing transformative insights into global water management.
Among the topics covered by this congress was the integration of renewable energy in desalination, the use of water recycling technologies, artificial intelligence, and digital solutions to increase operational efficiency in the water sector.
