The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan has reported that in the last 8 months, about 654 thousand tons of coal worth more than 65 million dollars have been exported to Pakistan, China, Iran, India and Turkey.
Pakistan is one of the biggest target markets for Afghanistan's coal. This country is dependent on Afghanistan's coal due to the lack of domestic resources and the need to provide energy for its industries.
Coal is transported from various mines in Afghanistan, especially mines in northern areas such as Baghlan and Samangan, to the borders of Pakistan.
