ADNOC signs LNG sales and purchase agreement with EnBW
According to Amac News: The 15-year agreement to supply 0.6 million tonnes per annum of LNG will make a definitive agreement between ADNOC and EnBW.
The LNG supply will be mainly from the Rohweis LNG project, currently under development in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi. Deliveries will begin in 2028, when commercial operations begin.
To date, more than 8 million tonnes per annum of the project’s 9.6 million tonnes per annum capacity has been allocated to international customers through long-term agreements.
The agreement with EnBW follows a 15-year 1 million tonnes per annum agreement with SEFE Marketing and Trading Singapore Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Germany’s SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH, and is the second SPA by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company with a German company for the Rohhaus LNG project.
The agreement builds on the Energy Security and Industry Accelerator Agreement between the UAE and Germany signed in 2022, which will help advance cooperation in the areas of energy security, carbon reduction and low-carbon fuels.
The agreement also contributes to the progress of the Joint Declaration on Sustainable Energy Cooperation between the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and the German state of Baden-Württemberg, signed in February 2024.
ADNOC Gas announced in November 2024 that it expects to acquire its 60% stake in the Rohhaus LNG project in the second half of 2028 for a cost of approximately $5 billion.
Upon completion of the project, which includes two liquefaction lines with a capacity of 4.8 million tonnes per year and a total capacity of 9.6 million tonnes per year, ADNOC Gas' operational LNG production capacity will increase to approximately 15 million tonnes per year.
