Amac News: Sohail Mohammad Al-Mazrouei, the minister of this ministry, emphasized that the UAE understands the importance of international cooperation in the transition to clean and sustainable energy and is trying to increase joint investments in this field.
In the energy sector, Al Mazrouei explained that the UAE's approach is to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and increase the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix.
He added that to accelerate the transition to clean energy and develop sustainable solutions, the UAE plans to invest 500 billion dirhams in the next three decades to achieve climate neutrality.
Currently, the UAE's renewable energy generation has reached 6 GW and nuclear power has reached 5.6 GW.
In the infrastructure sector, Al-Mazrouei pointed out that the total federal assets have reached nearly 3,000 federal buildings, including health centers, education, government services and mosques.
Total investments in infrastructure between 2018 and 2023 reached 11.8 billion dirhams, which include infrastructure and maintenance projects under the Ministry's Investment Program and the UAE President's Initiatives Follow-Up Committee. This includes 6.62 billion dirhams for federal government buildings and 5.18 billion dirhams for federal roads, dams and waterways.
Regarding the housing sector, he explained that the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program has helped stabilize families by issuing more than 90,000 housing support decisions worth nearly 60 billion dirhams since its establishment in 1999. The minister also noted that in three Last year, nearly 13,000 housing support decisions were issued, totaling 10 billion dirhams. These decisions include 10,738 loan and financing decisions worth approximately 8.8 billion dirhams and 2,347 grant decisions worth 1.567 billion dirhams, which have helped reduce the backlog of decisions by 95%.
He also mentioned the "Home" package, which provides 18 residential services to citizens through the cooperation of 24 state and local institutions.
The UAE has also been chosen to host the parallel event of World Maritime Day in 2025, and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has signed a memorandum of cooperation with NeoNautica, a company specializing in technology and digital services for the maritime sector.
In the logistics sector, Al-Mazrouei pointed out that in 2023, the UAE ranks seventh in the world in terms of logistics performance, first in the quality of air transport infrastructure, and third in the facilitation of maritime trade.
According to him, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE has also achieved exceptional achievements within the framework of the "Zero Bureaucracy" program, which aims to simplify and reduce procedures. The department has de-bureaucratized 21 services and processes, eliminated approximately 745,000 government procedures, and reduced service completion times by 75 percent. These actions have resulted in saving 21 million hours of customers' time and reducing field and electronic visits to more than 75% and increasing customer satisfaction to 91%.
