Dubai reimposes 30% alcohol sales tax
According to Amac News: In this email, the restaurants were informed that this tax will be applied on the purchase of alcoholic beverages from the specified date and they were asked to provide the necessary systems to comply with this issue.
Meanwhile, several restaurant owners have said that the move will affect the purchasing behavior of customers. The executive director of a reputable hotel has also mentioned in a conversation with the media that the return of this tax can be an opportunity for hotels. He explained that guests may visit hotels more and benefit from discounts and special offers for alcoholic beverages.
In January 2023, Dubai Municipality announced that it would remove the 30 percent tax on alcohol sales for one year, which was then extended until the end of December 2024.
Another restaurant owner, who asked not to be named, said he had expected the tax to drop to 15 percent, but it has now been confirmed that the tax will return to the previous rate of 30 percent.
