Dubai Silicon District, together with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Global Growth Hub (GGH), announced the selection of 10 startups for the second round of the MIT DesignX Dubai (MDXB) accelerator.

According to Amac News: The Dubai Silicon Zone announcement states that this accelerator, which was launched in September 2023, will serve as the Dubai branch of the internationally renowned MIT DesignX program.
Dubai Silicon Zone is a special economic zone dedicated to knowledge and innovation and is a member of Dubai Integrated Economic Zones (DIEZ).
The curriculum of this accelerator includes design and business workshops and classes developed by MIT and successfully tested in the first term. The sessions will be held until May 2025 at the Dubai Entrepreneurship Campus (Dtec), the largest technology hub and co-working space in the MENA region.
Participating startups will improve their business models with mentoring support from local industry leaders, MIT alumni, and MIT student interns.
The end of this intensive program will be celebrated with a Demo Day on January 30, where participating startups, investors, industry partners and stakeholders will gather. Also, the winner of the second edition of MDXB will be announced at this event.
"Hosting this group of startups at the MIT DesignX Dubai Accelerator is a testament to the tremendous success of the first cycle," said Dr. Juma Al Matrooshi, CEO of Dubai Silicon Zone. "This accelerator program continues to attract global and local attention and has received more than 400 applications from around the world."
He added, “We are delighted to welcome these 10 promising startups to help improve their prospects and realize their dreams. This initiative is in line with our commitment to create a dynamic ecosystem for technology and sustainability entrepreneurs in Dubai and build a collaborative network of innovators solving global challenges.”
Gilad Rosenzweig, executive director of DesignX at MIT's School of Architecture and Planning, said, “The first edition of MDXB showcased some amazing innovations, and I'm excited to see what the second edition will bring. "Supported by the best MIT faculty, this program provides an ecosystem that fosters entrepreneurial and leadership growth and encourages participants to take advantage of mentorship opportunities."
The startups selected for this course represent Europe, the United States and the Persian Gulf countries and are focused on environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles and sustainability. Their innovative solutions include hydrogen technology, waste management, emissions reduction and energy storage, among others.
These startups include Protium Technologies, a specialist in sustainable hydrogen technologies; Kanz, an AI-powered aggregator that simplifies and personalizes financial requests.
PeykBot, designer and operator of self-driving, artificial intelligence-based robots for package and food delivery; Bilqis GreenTech, a provider of waste management solutions; Travel Indigenous is a platform for providing eco-friendly travel experiences in the UAE and Oman.
Circa Biotech, which converts organic waste into resources such as insect protein, biodiesel and organic fertilizer; Net0 offers artificial intelligence-based carbon accounting software.
 EcoConnect, which helps businesses source ethically and ease supplier management; Theion, a developer of sustainable lithium-sulfur batteries for various applications, and The Hung Bag, a multipurpose bag that hangs over gates to receive and organize deliveries.
