Amac News: The discussions focused on strengthening joint efforts in the field of international trade arbitration to enable the improvement of the investment climate and increase the volume of trade between Sharjah and Kerala to levels that match their potential.
These discussions took place during a business meeting held at the SCCI headquarters, between Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, President of SCCI and P. Rajivot, Minister of Law, Industries and Deserts in the Government of Kerala.
In this meeting, Halimah Hamid Ali Al-Owais, member of SCCI's Board of Directors; Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director General of SCCI and Abdulzaiz Al Shamsi, Deputy Director General of Communication and Business Department at SCCI were also present.
Also, Ahmed Saleh Al-Ajla, director of the Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Center "Tahkeem" which operates under the supervision of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce, and Fatemeh Khalifa Al-Maqrab, Director of International Relations at SCCI, along with several officials from both sides, were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Sharjah and Kerala in the fields of economy, industry and tourism.
They emphasized the importance of leveraging existing economic partnerships and agreements between the UAE and India to enhance trade relations and support cooperation in priority sectors.
The two sides also explored opportunities to increase meetings between investors and business leaders from both countries in order to exchange experience and knowledge, coordinate efforts to showcase areas of potential cooperation, and promote the establishment of joint investment projects.
P. Rajiot invited the president and members of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce to attend the Kerala Global Investment Summit 2025 to be held on February 21 and 22 at the Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre.
Abdullah Sultan Al Owais emphasized the expansion of economic and investment cooperation between the UAE and India and said that the UAE is India's third largest trading partner globally.
Foreign non-oil trade between the two countries reached 53.8 billion dollars in the first ten months of 2024, which shows a growth of 22.6% compared to the same period in 2023.
Al-Awais emphasized that the emirate of Sharjah and the state of Kerala have significant economic and investment opportunities.
The meeting also addressed the purpose of using joint events organized by both sides. One of the highlights is the 'Come to Kerala' exhibition, one of India's largest trade fairs in the Middle East, hosted by the Sharjah Exhibition Centre.
