Similarly, the number of registered vehicles in the commercial transport and logistics sector increased by more than 100,000 to more than 400,000 vehicles, representing a 31% increase compared to the previous year.
Commenting on the results, Matar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Executive Board of the RTA, said: “These achievements are the result of RTA’s adoption of international practices, improved commercial licensing services and the establishment of a strong regulatory and governance structure for transport and leasing activities.”
He explained that under the Dubai Commercial Land Transport and Logistics Strategy 2030, the emirate aims to double the sector’s direct contribution to Dubai’s economy (AED 16.8 billion).
The strategy also aims to increase the adoption of technology in the sector’s infrastructure by 75 per cent, reduce carbon emissions by 30 per cent and improve operational efficiency by 10 per cent.
Matar Al Tayer added that Dubai’s commercial transport sector also plays a vital role in advancing the Dubai Economic Plan (D33), which aims to position Dubai among the top three economic cities in the world.
