Amac News: Based on the announcement, Marsa Zayed is a transformative project that aims to transform 320 hectares (3.2 million square meters) of the Red Sea coast into a tourism and commercial hub.
MAG Group Holding, which has been selected as the main developer of Marsa Zayed by Abu Dhabi Ports Group, is the landowner for the project.
Supported by the governments of the UAE and Jordan, the Marsa Zayed project seeks to strengthen the Jordanian coastal city’s position as a regional tourism hub and a gateway for travelers visiting the Red Sea.
The first phase of the project will cover 1.2 kilometers of Red Sea coastline and will include Zayed Riviera, which will include four residential towers, a marina with approximately 1,260 residential units and 117 commercial units, a hotel, an old market with 50 retail stores, the restoration of the historic Aqaba minaret, a yacht club and marina, and a visitor center.
In January 2024, Abu Dhabi Ports Group signed an agreement between its digital arm, Maqta Technologies, and Aqaba Development Company (ADC) for its existing joint venture, Maqta Ayla.
The joint venture will transform Aqaba port operations by implementing a Port Community System (PCS) leveraging Maqta Gateway expertise, marking the first export of Abu Dhabi Port’s digitalization solution.
AD Ports Group has also signed long-term contracts to develop and operate cruise terminals in Red Sea ports including Safaga, Hurghada, Al Sokhna and Sharm El-Sheikh, and has also undertaken to build and operate a multi-purpose port in Safaga and a Ro-Ro terminal in Al Sokhna.
