Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE and Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Republic of Indonesia, traveled to Indonesia from January 29 to February 1 with a high-ranking delegation.
UAE and Indonesia economic leaders discuss strengthening relations
According to Amac News: During the trip, Al Mazrouei met with senior Indonesian officials and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields.
At the beginning of the trip, the Emirati minister was welcomed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at his residence in Jakarta. Subianto emphasized Indonesia’s interest in developing relations with the UAE in various fields. The two sides agreed to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation and expedite the finalization of agreements and joint projects.
During the trip, Al Mazrouei and his accompanying delegation also met with several Indonesian ministers and officials, including August Hari Murt, Minister of Coordination of Infrastructure and Regional Development; Sujiyono, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sri Mulyani, Minister of Finance; Hashim Djuhuhadi Kusumo, Chairman of the Housing Working Group; Rozan Rueslani, Minister of Investment; and Ridha Wirakusome, CEO of the Indonesian Investment Agency.
The meetings reviewed the progress of joint investment projects and initiatives, as well as new opportunities in areas of mutual interest.
The UAE minister also chaired the third UAE-Indonesia Roundtable, while Sujiyono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, chaired the Indonesian side.
The meeting was held in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Jakarta and was attended by ministers, their deputies, CEOs and representatives of several Emirati and Indonesian companies, including Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Ports, Refrigeration, Masdar, Mubadala, Borouge, ADNOC, Edge, First Bank of Abu Dhabi, Emirates Global Aluminium, EFFCO, Alf Education and Al Soudi Electric.
Discussions focused on investment and economic cooperation in priority sectors for both countries, including renewable and traditional energy, aviation, ports and logistics, infrastructure, mining, cooling technology, strategic industries, defense, food security, construction and housing, banking and education.
Participants also addressed the challenges faced by Emirati companies in investing in Indonesia and explored solutions to facilitate the implementation of joint projects and initiatives. The meetings underscored the UAE’s commitment to strengthening economic and investment ties, particularly in the areas of food security, energy, transport and logistics.
