Dubai travel industry is bracing for a surge in bookings for flights and hotels ahead of the India-Pakistan clash in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to be played on February 23.
ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Dubai prepares for surge in bookings
According to Amac News: With less than three weeks to go before the tournament, travel companies are reporting a steady increase in demand and are expecting a significant spike in bookings in the final days leading up to the match.
Rekant Pitti, co-founder of EaseMyTrip, an Indian travel platform, said that demand for flights and hotels increases sharply in the days leading up to the match. He explained that in past tournaments, the host city of Ahmedabad has seen a 1,550 percent increase in accommodation searches.
Musafir.com CEO Raheesh Basu also stressed that the real surge will occur in the final two weeks before the tournament, and travelers waiting for discounts may face limited availability and high prices.
Major origin cities include Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad in India and Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan, while other markets such as the UK and Australia are also contributing to demand.
Dubai’s hospitality sector is currently experiencing high occupancy rates, with hotels near Deira and the city centre filling up.
In past tournaments, hotel prices have increased by between 25 and 50 per cent, and in some cases by up to tenfold. During the tournament, India-Dubai travel packages were around $2,500 (AED 9,175).
