More than 50 focal points from the UAE’s competent authorities (CAs) participated in the workshop, marking the start of a comprehensive assessment of the country’s food control system.
The workshop was attended by senior officials and technical staff from various federal and state institutions in the UAE, and FAO experts guided them in using the FAO/WHO Food Control System Assessment Tool.
The globally recognized tool assesses around 160 criteria, including food safety policies, legal frameworks, monitoring and inspection systems, risk management and traceability.
The move aims to align the UAE's food control system with international standards and strengthen its food safety measures and trade competitiveness.
