Local officials of the Afghanistan acting government in Samangan province, in the north of the country, reported that a hand grenade was thrown at a mosque located in the city of Aibak, the capital of Samangan province.

According to Amac News, Hashmatullah Rahmani, spokesman for the Samangan Police Command, said that the incident occurred at around 12:45 pm yesterday, Friday, February 14, during Friday prayers.
The Afghan government, confirming the incident, announced the casualties as four wounded.
However, some health sources have announced a higher number of injured. According to sources, dozens of worshippers were injured in the incident, with two of them in critical condition.
The Samangan Police Command said that two residents of the province threw a hand grenade inside the mosque due to personal enmity with some of the relatives associated with the mosque.
According to him, security forces immediately arrived at the scene and arrested the perpetrators of the attack while they were fleeing, along with a loaded gun.
Security officials of the Afghanistan acting government have noted that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
This incident occurs at a time when Afghanistan has witnessed several explosions in recent days.
On the morning of Thursday, February 13, a suicide attack took place at the Afghan Ministry of Urban Development and Housing in Kabul, killing and wounding a number of people.
