Amac News, the conference, which was held at the Emirates Palace Hotel, was organized by the ADNEC Group in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Defense and the Balanced Council, and brought together a group of high-ranking government officials, defense policymakers, industry leaders, innovators and representatives of multinational companies.
Mohammed Al Ahbabi, Senior Advisor for Space and Cyber Technologies at EDGE Group, Emirates, during the third session of the conference, pointed to the growing capacity of satellite launches and highlighted the challenges of ensuring data security.
Al Ahbabi also emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing in strengthening space systems, predicting that the UAE will witness a significant growth in the number of satellites and military interest in space by 2030.
Clayton Soop, Deputy Director for Space Security at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, emphasized the critical role of public-private partnerships and strategic investments in space, particularly in artificial intelligence and propulsion technologies.
Meanwhile, Frank Box, CEO of Capella Space, highlighted the real and growing threats in space and the need for greater collaboration between private companies, governments and civil society to build resilient space systems. He stressed the importance of information sharing and data declassification to mitigate space-related threats and fully exploit the potential of space in disaster forecasting and asset management.
Hassan Al Hosani, CEO of Bayanat, also emphasized the importance of declassifying information and strengthening collaboration, particularly through the UAE Public-Private Partnership Platform.
The meeting also addressed the development of advanced technologies for space situational awareness, missile defense, secure satellite communications, and resilient space assets, and examined counter-space capabilities that are designed to disrupt or interfere with space services and pose significant threats to military operations.
