RTA Signs AED 798 Million Contract for Al Qudra Street Development

According to Amac News; RTA stated in a release that the aim of this project is to optimize traffic flow, improve mobility for residents and visitors throughout the emirate, and support urban development and population growth in Dubai.

The project, costing AED 798 million, will start from the intersection of Al Qudra Street with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, continuing through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and reaching Emirates Road. It includes the development of several interchanges, the construction of bridges totaling 2,700 meters, and the expansion of the existing street by 11.6 kilometers.
This project is set to increase the street's capacity and reduce travel time from 9.4 minutes to 2.8 minutes. It will also service residential and development areas, benefiting an estimated population of around 400,000 residents and visitors.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of RTA, stated: "The Al Qudra Street Development Project is one of the major projects undertaken by RTA to improve the vertical (East-West) road network. This project will serve several key development areas, including Arabian Ranches 1 and 2, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Studio City, Akoya, Mudon, DAMAC Hills, and The Sustainable City."
Al Tayer added: "The project includes improvements to the intersection of Al Qudra Street with the connecting road between Arabian Ranches and Dubai Studio City. This enhancement will be achieved through the construction of a 600-meter bridge on Al Qudra Street with four lanes in each direction. This improvement is designed to increase traffic flow on both Al Qudra Street and the connecting road, raising the street’s capacity from 6,600 vehicles per hour to 19,200 vehicles per hour."
Al Tayer elaborated on the project scope, stating: "The project also includes improvements to the intersection of Al Qudra Street with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street through the construction of a 700-meter bridge with seven lanes in both directions."
He mentioned that the project includes the construction of a 500-meter bridge to facilitate traffic flow from Al Qudra Street to Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street towards Jebel Ali. Additionally, a 900-meter bridge will be built to serve traffic from Al Qudra Street to Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street in the direction of Downtown Dubai and Dubai International Airport.
According to him, in a subsequent phase, a new road will be constructed in the southern part of the developers' area, extending 4.8 kilometers to connect with Emirates Road. This enhancement is aimed at improving access to and from the development areas. The project will also include the expansion of the number of lanes on both sides of Emirates Road over a stretch of 4.8 kilometers, thereby improving connectivity with surrounding development projects.
