AD Ports Group announced on Monday, February 24, the inauguration of a custom bound inland dry port facility in Abu Dhabi. The port, according to the group, will help improve the connectivity of Khalifa Port and enhance the quality of logistics services across the UAE.
AD Ports Group launches first inland dry port facility
According to Amac News, based on the AD Ports Group’s announcement, strategically located between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Al Faya Dry Port will be connected to Khalifa Port by land as an Inland Container Terminal (ICD). The facility will act as a transit terminal for trucks, making shipping operations more cost-effective for Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Al FayaDry Port will serve CMA CGM as its first key customer, and will gradually serve other strategic shipping partners of AD Ports Group at Khalifa Port, such as COSCO and MSC. There is also the possibility of launching other ICDs across Abu Dhabi, depending on market demand.
The opening of this ICD facility in Al Faya will help expand the commercial reach of CMA’s terminals at Khalifa Port, which opened in December 2024, to cover end customers across the UAE.
Al Faya Dry Port is digitally connected to Khalifa Port through Maqta Technologies’ advanced trade and logistics platform.
By bridging the gap between Khalifa Port and the final destination of cargo, the facility will enable CMA CGM and other operators at Khalifa Port to generate Origin and Destination (O&D) business.
Al Faya Dry Port is a new example of the growing partnership between AD Ports Group and CMA CGM, a global player in sea, land, air and logistics.
The facility has been designed in accordance with the International Maritime and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, ensuring that it meets global port industry standards.
