According to
Amac News, the agreement aims to establish a joint venture (JV) to produce REGENT’s electric seagliders in the UAE to meet the needs of the Middle East, Africa and other regions, which will become operational after receiving all necessary permits.
The joint venture will also provide after-sales services, including maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).
The collaboration is in line with EDGE and SDF’s strategic objectives of focusing on advanced technologies in specific sectors, including aerospace and dual-use technologies. It also supports projects that contribute to the development of the industrial ecosystem and improve supply chain and manufacturing capabilities in these sectors.
SDF initially invested in REGENT in 2023 and increased its stake in 2024 as negotiations for a partnership in the UAE progressed.
Following the successful establishment of the partnership, which is subject to the finalization of terms and receipt of local and international approvals, SDF plans to further invest in the company and reinforce its confidence in REGENT’s potential.
The agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in April 2024 between the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and REGENT, which aims to support the company’s development and manufacturing capabilities in the Abu Dhabi Smart and Autonomous Vehicles (SAVI) Industry Cluster.
The partnership will expand REGENT’s manufacturing and after-sales service capabilities and enhance its ability to meet the growing demand for seagliders in the region and beyond.
REGENT recently began construction of a 255,000-square-foot seagliders manufacturing facility in Rhode Island, which is expected to be operational in 2026.
