According to Amac News, the signing ceremony of the agreement was held in the presence of Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
AD Ports Group also announced the signing of three other separate agreements that demonstrate the full economic potential of its five-tier business structure, including ports, economic cities and free zones, shipping and transportation, logistics and digital services.
The synergistic business ecosystem with related businesses is said to transform Pakistan into a world-class maritime hub and a key gateway to Central Asia.
AD Ports said Pakistan plays a key role in one of the group’s strategic growth priorities in Central Asia as the maritime gateway to the “Middle Corridor” connecting Asia and Europe, where AD Ports has acquired maritime and logistics businesses in Georgia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The redevelopment of Karachi Port, Pakistan’s largest port with land connections to Central Asia, will develop the Middle Corridor into a modern and cost-effective maritime route.
The signing of these contracts represents an expansion of AD Ports’ activities in Pakistan, allowing various Pakistani entities to digitalize and modernize the customs management systems at Karachi Port and improve the quality and scope of maritime, dredging and ship assembly services.
The agreements commit AD Ports Group to explore the possibility of establishing an industrial zone near Karachi Port and Port Qasim Pakistan, in collaboration with Pakistani partners.
The first agreement was signed between AD Ports Group’s Makta and PSW Pakistan to enhance Pakistan’s Single Window systems through collaboration with Pakistan Customs Services to modernize selective border and cross-border systems analysis.
The second agreement was signed between AD Ports Group and Bahria Foundation, a Pakistani multi-purpose group engaged in industrial, commercial and development activities, to improve efficiency in dredging, marine services and ship mooring at the Port of Karachi.
The third agreement is a strategic partnership agreement between Novatum Group Logistics and KGTL, the Group’s joint venture with Kohil Terminals, to explore providing comprehensive and integrated logistics solutions across air, sea and inland freight, as well as warehousing and distribution solutions including cold storage, for the development of a corridor to Greater Pakistan and Central Asia.
