Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, approved the "Tasreef" project aimed at developing the rainwater drainage network in Dubai.
According to Amac News: This project, with a total cost of 30 billion dirhams, is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UAE, which will increase the capacity of Dubai's rainwater drainage system by 700%.
The aim of this initiative is to create an advanced drainage infrastructure that is safe, flexible and ready to face future challenges.
Covering all areas of Dubai, this project will increase the capacity of the drainage network to more than 20 million cubic meters of water per day and will meet our needs for the next hundred years.
This strategic project is a continuation of the drainage projects launched by Dubai in 2019 and covers Dubai Expo Zone, Al Maktoum International Airport City and Jebel Ali.
This initiative is in line with the municipality's strategic goals for the integrated management of storm water drainage and the sewage system, and underscores its commitment to infrastructure projects that enhance sustainability and quality of life in Dubai.
The " Tasreef " project aims to improve rainwater and surface drainage services with complex and highly efficient infrastructure, improve operational efficiency and reduce costs related to the construction, operation and maintenance of the station by 20% and increase the network's lifespan.
Also, the rainwater drainage capacity through the tunnels will reach 20 million cubic meters per day with a flow capacity of 230 cubic meters per second, which is the largest rainwater collection project in a single system in the region.
The project uses the latest TBM tunnel boring machines, the largest of its kind in the Middle East.
These machines have automatic control systems that enable continuous monitoring and data analysis with advanced safety systems to ensure the safety of workers and equipment.
