The United Arab Emirates has announced that the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the country and Georgia has officially entered into force.
According to Amac News: This agreement focuses on expanding business opportunities, empowering small and medium-sized companies and stabilizing global supply chains.
This agreement will eliminate or reduce customs tariffs on 95% of the tariff lines that cover more than 90% of the total non-oil bilateral trade between the two countries.
The UAE-Georgia CEPA is expected to more than triple the value of total non-oil trade between the two countries over five years to US$1.5 billion, while adding US$3.9 billion to the UAE's GDP by 2031 and 291 add million dollars to Georgia's GDP.
Additionally, this landmark deal is expected to increase UAE exports to Georgia to $1.3 billion by 2031, with key UAE exports including refined sugar, electrical appliances, vehicles and parts, polymers and machinery, among others. There are other cases.
The United Arab Emirates is currently Georgia's leading trading partner in the Arab world, accounting for more than 63 percent of its total trade with the region.
The agreement builds on the strong and rapidly growing economic relationship between the two countries, which will bring bilateral non-oil trade to US$511.2 million in 2023, a 6.3 percent increase over 2022.
The UAE is also Georgia's sixth largest investor in the world, accounting for 5% of its total foreign direct investment (FDI) flows. Bilateral investment between the two countries currently exceeds one billion dollars.
The purpose of this agreement is to accelerate the flow of investment in key sectors including tourism and hospitality, real estate, renewable energy, retail and wholesale, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, electrical equipment and construction materials.
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement is a vital component of the UAE's foreign trade agenda, which seeks to build stronger and more integrated trade relations with the most dynamic markets around the world.
In addition to the UAE-Georgia CEPA, the UAE has signed and implemented CEPAs with India, Indonesia, Israel, Turkey and Cambodia, and is in the process of concluding more agreements with countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and South America.
