Half of the population of Afghanistan is below the poverty line

According to Amac News: Ocha added in its new report that 12.4 million people are facing food insecurity and 48% of the people live below the poverty line.
The administration also said that the level of aid in 2024 has decreased by 25 percent compared to previous years.
Earlier, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid said that the May floods in Afghanistan affected at least 83,000 people.
Also, the World Food Program (WFP) warned in its report on July 9 that by October of this year, 12.4 million people in Afghanistan will face a high level of food insecurity.
This organization has said that despite the current challenges, Afghanistan is in relatively good condition in terms of food insecurity compared to the past, and despite this, 4 million people, including 3.2 million children under the age of 5, are facing severe malnutrition.
The report states that WFP needs $1.6 billion in 2024 to provide emergency food aid, nutrition and other urgent relief to the needy people of Afghanistan.
In this report, the World Food Program identified the cause of the food insecurity crisis as lasting economic instability in Afghanistan, climate changes such as the recent devastating floods and drought, and the return of hundreds of thousands of Afghans from Iran and Pakistan to Afghanistan.
