Officials at Herat Customs say that the massive fire in Herat's customs warehouse was contained after about 8 hours.
According to Amac News: The fire started around 2:30 pm (Wednesday, August 15) and continued for about 8 hours.
The local authorities of Herat have announced the cause of this fire as "technical problems".
Esmatullah Yaser, the deputy of Herat Customs, told Bakhtar News Agency that preliminary investigations show that the cause of the fire was technical problems.
Yasser added that this fire did not cause any casualties, but it left huge financial losses. So far, the amount of damage caused by this fire has not been announced.
Some businessmen in Herat told the media that millions of dollars of their capital was burned in this fire.
According to them, the commercial goods were stuck inside the customs for several days due to the negligence of the customs officials.
According to sources, at least 45 cars carrying commercial goods and several customs warehouses were burnt in this fire.
