Hub71, Abu Dhabi's global technology ecosystem, announced in a statement that it has welcomed 21 startups to Group 15.
According to Amac News: Hub71's announcement states that by attracting 15 groups, it has increased the total number of investments it supports to 243.
The group said that after a rigorous selection process, these startups will enter the Access Hub71 program and the Hub71+ Hub71 Digital Assets and Hub71+ Digital Assets specialized ecosystems.
In total, the 15 cohort startups have raised $134.9 million in funding, demonstrating Hub71's success in attracting high-potential startups that can drive technology innovation in priority sectors of Abu Dhabi's diversified economy, according to the announcement.
The group of 15 was selected from over 1,228 applications with 17 startups established in international markets including the USA, UK, France and Germany.
Notable startups joining Hub71's access program include EpiBone, a US-based HealthTech company that has raised $43 million (AED 158 million) in funding.
Partanna Oasis, a materials science company that makes carbon-negative concrete founded by NBA legend Rick Fox, has raised $26 million (AED 98 million) in funding and is set to join ClimateTech Hub71+.
UK-based Greengage, a provider of Web3 fintech solutions for SMBs and family offices, has raised $10 million (AED 36 million) in funding to join digital assets specialist ecosystem Hub71+.
By joining Hub71, these startups will operate in Abu Dhabi, enhancing the UAE capital's position as a world-leading technology hub and a desirable destination for entrepreneurial growth.
More than half of the group of 15 consists of Seed and Series A startups, demonstrating Hub71's ability to scale investments from early stages.
FinTech, ClimateTech, HealthTech, EdTech, and Mobility & Logistics, and will play an important role in building the resilience and sustainable growth of the Abu Dhabi economy.
Autone is a prominent startup joining the Access program. The startup is a US-based logistics company that offers an inventory management system that integrates artificial intelligence to provide companies with real-time data and decision-making information. This startup has secured $4.8 million in funding.
Seven startups in the cohort will join ClimateTech Hub71+, where they will have access to resources and tailored support packages designed to enable their mission to shape a more sustainable future.
Plenesys is a France-based company that develops innovative solutions that produce clean hydrogen without CO2 emissions. This startup achieves this by using plasma methane or biome thane natural gas decomposition at 50% less cost than electrolysis. Plenesys recently secured $3 million in funding.
Meanwhile, five startups are set to join Hub71+ Digital Assets, a specialized ecosystem focused on unlocking the growth potential of Web3 and digital assets. This increases the total number of startups in the specialized ecosystem to 22.
Among the startups joining is Norway-based Gateway.fm, a distributed block chain infrastructure that automates and offers companies turnkey solutions for deploying block chains and private infrastructure. The company has raised $6 million (22 million dirhams).
By joining the specialized Hub71 "Access" and Hub71+ ecosystems, startups can benefit from a vibrant community of mentors, partners and investors in Abu Dhabi's thriving tech ecosystem and gain access to market opportunities, top talent and capital, which increases significantly.
Startups will benefit from non-cash incentives worth AED 250,000 and AED 250,000 in cash against equity through a SAFE note.
High-performing startups will also be eligible to receive AED 250,000 in additional equity upon completion of the program.
