S.Korea Retail Sales fell due to weak demand
According to Amac News: According to the data of Korea Statistics center, the retail sales index in the third quarter of this year reached an average of 100.7, which has decreased by 1.9% compared to last year.
The center added that retail sales fell steadily in the second quarter of 2022, marking the longest slump since the bureau began tracking the data in 1995.
Citing official data, Yonhap reported that the durable goods sales index has been declining since the first quarter of 2022, with the exception of an increase in the second quarter of last year.
In particular, the passenger car sales index decreased by 8.4% in the first quarter and by 13.2% in the second quarter.
The sale of household appliances has also faced a slowdown, and their index has decreased for 10 consecutive seasons.
The sale of semi-durable goods, including clothing, also faced a 4.7% decrease in the sales index of this group in the third quarter, and it decreased for six consecutive quarters.
Non-durable goods, such as food and beverages, saw sales decline for nine consecutive quarters, reflecting a continued slowdown in domestic consumption.
