The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released data on global passenger demand for September 2024, showing that total demand, measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), increased by 7.1% compared to September 2023.
IATA: September figures reach all-time high
According to Amak News: Citing the IATA, this figure is the highest increase for the month of September.
Total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK), increased by 5.8% year-on-year, according to IATA statistics.
According to IATA, the load factor has reached 83.6% in September this year.
Likewise, international demand has increased by 9.2% compared to September 2023. The capacity also increased by 9.1% and the load factor reached 83.8%.
Domestic demand increased by 3.7% compared to September 2023. The internal capacity increased by 0.7% and the load factor was 83.3%.
IATA Director General Willie Walsh said this year's peak travel season saw the highest level of demand in its history, which is good news for travelers as well as the global economy.
However, Walsh also pointed to a series of challenges, warning that international air transport will soon face capacity shortages in some areas, which threatens to reduce economic and social benefits.
