Amac News: The event has jointly organized by the General Secretariat of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation of the UAE, in collaboration with the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture and the Jordan Dates Association.
The Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation was established in honor of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the late President of the UAE, with the aim of enhancing the quality and standards of date production globally and promoting agricultural innovations.
The festival reflects a protocol signed on February 26, 2024, in Amman, between the General Secretariat of the award, the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture, and the Jordan Dates Association.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of Hamad Abdullah Al Matrooshi, Chargé d’Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Amman, and Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary General of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation.
Khaled Al-Hanifat, the Jordanian Minister of Agriculture and representative of the festival, noted that date palm cultivation in the country has deep historical roots, with evidence indicating its ancient significance.
He also mentioned that investment in the date palm sector in Jordan has now reached nearly half a billion dollars, supporting around 10,000 jobs, approximately 40% of which are held by women.
It should be said that the winners of the Sixth International Festival of Jordanian Dates were announced at the end of the opening ceremony.
