Abdul Salam Hanafi, the administrative deputy prime minister of the Afghan interim government, has arrived in Uzbekistan at the head of a high-ranking delegation, the Arg said.

According to Amac News: Hanafi arrived in Tashkent on Saturday morning, the Arg in Kabul said in a statement.
The visit was at the invitation of Uzbek officials and the two sides are expected to discuss strengthening political, social, economic and cultural relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, the statement said.
Uzbekistan, which neighbors Afghanistan, is one of the countries that has maintained political relations with Kabul since the interim government came to power.
In the past three years, Uzbek political and economic delegations have visited Kabul several times. In the latest case, officials of the interim government announced on May 20 following the visit of an Uzbek delegation that the contract to extract the Toti gas reserves in Faryab Maidan had been awarded to an Uzbek company.
The company is investing about $1 billion in gas extraction in Afghanistan in a 10-year contract.
