Archer Aviation, a UAE-based technology company that designs and manufactures electric vertical aerial vehicles (eVTOL) has announced that it will soon launch electric air taxi operations in Abu Dhabi.

According to Amac News: The company has recently announced that it has signed an agreement with the key institutions of the UAE and Abu Dhabi in order to prepare for the first commercial eVTOL flight in the first quarter of 2026.
According to the announcement, under the agreement, Archer Aviation will become the first manufacturer of vertical electric vehicles in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region with the launch of air taxis in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) is one of the key signatories of this agreement. Other participating entities include Abu Dhabi Airports, Falcon Aviation Services, Etihad Aviation Training, Etihad Airways and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
The GCAA said it is working closely with Archer and will soon hold workshops to develop the legal framework necessary to certify the Midnight aircraft and approve commercial air taxi operations.
