Amac News: The annual event, organized by the China Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) with the support of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park Administrative Committee, featured more than 100 leading experts and academics.
According to China Economic Net, one of the key highlights of the event was the release of the Beijing AI Industry White Paper (2024). The document, prepared by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park Administrative Committee, predicts that the city’s AI industry will reach more than 3 trillion yuan (US$412.3 billion) by the end of 2024.
According to the white paper, 36 unicorn companies and an active financing environment support Beijing’s AI ecosystem. In the first quarter of 2024, AI-related social financing reached about 320 billion yuan.
The white paper emphasizes Beijing’s leadership in nurturing AI innovations, and boasts a strong ecosystem including academic institutions, research platforms, and cutting-edge companies.
The city is home to 30 universities offering AI programs and has several national laboratories that are making breakthroughs in various fields, including large-scale model training and multi-model systems.
In addition to research, Beijing is advancing real-world applications of AI, with AI-based solutions already having positive impacts in the fields of education, health, and public services, strengthening its role as a global hub for AI development.
