AD Ports Group announced today, Thursday, December 19, that it has appointed Egyptian construction and engineering company Hassan Allaam to build the infrastructure of the Noatum Port - Safaga Terminal on the Red Sea coast of Egypt.

According to Amac News: The terminal area, which will be the first international port terminal in the Upper Egypt region, will be approximately 810,000 square meters wide and will include a capacity of 450,000 TEU containers, 5 million tons of dry and general cargo capacity, 1 million tons of liquid cargo capacity and Ro-Ro facilities with a capacity of 50,000 CEU.
The various facilities will include office buildings, workshops, warehouses and government buildings, and extensive infrastructure development including roads, utilities and security systems is also planned.
The project will include a 48,000-square-meter concrete platform and an 80,354-square-meter container terminal with supporting infrastructure and about 66,360 square meters for general cargo and break bulk operations.
The terminal is part of the Emirati group’s investments in Egypt of about $349 million over the past three years, which include the acquisition of maritime companies and plans to build a Ro-Ro terminal in Ain Sokhna.
The UAE is Egypt’s second largest trading partner and its largest international investor, investing about $9.6 billion in Egypt in 2023. In 2023, the UAE’s trade volume with Egypt was 25.2 billion dirhams ($6.9 billion).
More than 1,600 Emirati companies are active in Egypt, and in February 2024, the two countries signed a historic agreement under which the UAE will invest $35 billion in the development of the Ras Al-Hikmah coastal area.
