The Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority has announced the first edition of the Date Festival in Al Ain. The festival set to be held from January 3 to 8, 2025.

According to Amac News: The festival aims to create a dedicated market for Emirati dates, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices among farmers, promote modern agricultural techniques, preserve the cultural and agricultural traditions of the Emirati, and promote a deeper understanding of agriculture in society.
The festival will include a series of competitions and events to mark the date harvest season. Seven main date competitions are focused on different categories such as Al Nakheel Al Nakhbah, Khalas, Fard, Debs, Boumani, Shishay and Zamli.
A total of 70 prizes worth more than 1.7 million dirhams have also been earmarked for these competitions.
The festival will also include a date auction, date shops, a traditional market, a heritage village, exhibition pavilions, a children's area, a section for female artists, a photo exhibition, a performance stage and folk arts performances.
The festival will focus on the role of the palm tree and its traditional and modern industries, and aims to support local products and the agricultural sector, especially date production.
The festival will also highlight the vital role of dates in economic diversification, their impact on the national economy and strengthening the UAE's food security system.
