According to
Amac News: China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced the figures, adding that the total number of mobile subscribers in the country reached 1.79 billion by the end of November.
MIIT called this a remarkable achievement that shows China's remarkable progress in the promotion and application of 5G technology.
Wang Peng, a senior researcher at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times: "This not only reflects the high speed of China's communication infrastructure construction and optimization, but also shows the high level of consumer recognition and acceptance of 5G technology."
By the end of November, the number of 5G base stations reached 4.191 million, an increase of 815,000 from the end of the previous year, accounting for 33.2% of the total mobile base stations.
The data also showed that the number of fixed broadband Internet subscribers in China, including China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, reached 670 million by the end of November, of which 31.2% were gigabit Internet users, an increase of 5.5% from the end of the previous year.
In the first 11 months of this year, the cumulative revenue of the telecommunications sector reached 1.59 trillion yuan (equivalent to 217.85 billion US dollars), representing a year-on-year growth of 2.6%.
From January to November, the three major mobile operators earned 395.2 billion yuan in revenue from a range of emerging businesses such as IPTV, Internet data centers, big data, cloud computing and the Internet of Things, up 7.9 percent year-on-year and accounting for 24.8 percent of communication service revenue.
Cloud computing revenue rose 6.8 percent and big data revenue rose 60.7 percent year-on-year.
