The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of the acting Afghan government has announced that drilling of 18 more oil wells has begun in the Amu Darya oil field and that oil extraction capacity in this area will soon increase.
Drilling of 18 new oil wells begins in Afghanistan
According to Amac News: The ministry wrote in a press release yesterday, Tuesday, December 24, that currently about 1,350 tons of oil are being extracted daily from 25 active wells in the Qashqari, Angut and Aq Darya deposits.
The press release states: “Drilling of 18 new wells is underway, some of which are completed and ready for extraction, and the rest will be completed in the coming months.”
According to the press release, the oil extracted from these wells will be sold to domestic factories for processing through open auctions and will be offered to the market after refining.
The press release emphasized that: “Crude oil will be awarded to domestic companies through open competition and, after processing in factories, will be offered to the market for domestic consumption.”
This project is considered part of the efforts of the Afghan Ministry of Mines to increase domestic production and optimize the exploitation of the country’s natural resources.
