Amac News, The event, held to mark World Clean Energy Day, highlighted the global commitment to providing universal access to clean energy and achieving climate goals.
The session, held at the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Sustainability and Innovation Centre, focused on promoting gender equality in energy diplomacy and leadership, and innovative dialogues to address the global energy transition.
Participants reviewed key themes and structures for future sessions, and discussed ways to accelerate discussions on gender equality and energy transition ahead of COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
Amna bint Abdullah Al-Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said the meeting highlighted women’s participation in diplomacy and renewable energy and the importance of gender equality.
Meanwhile, IRENA Director-General Francesco La Camara said that despite unprecedented growth in renewable energy, its global distribution remains worryingly uneven, with the global South increasingly lagging behind.
