Sharjah Airport and Air Arabia launch direct flights to Addis Ababa
According to Amac News: Based on the announcement, Air Arabia is set to operate three weekly scheduled flights between Sharjah and Addis Ababa on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays using Airbus A320 aircraft.
Ali Salem Al-Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airports Authority, said that the addition of Addis Ababa to the list of direct destinations from Sharjah Airport is designed to meet the growing demand for passenger and cargo travel between the UAE and Ethiopia.
He added that economic, trade and tourism relations between the two countries have witnessed positive trends in recent years, facilitating comprehensive development in various sectors, including tourism, cargo transportation, transshipment, export and re-export.
Ambassador Akililu Kabaddi Erna, Consul General of Ethiopia to the UAE, also said that the route is more than a new air connection—it is a strategic bridge that will strengthen relations between Ethiopia and the UAE, facilitate greater cultural and commercial exchange, and make it easier for passengers to travel between the two countries.
“We are confident that this will be the beginning of more fruitful cooperation in the aviation sector. We hope to operate these flights on a daily basis in response to the growing demand to strengthen connectivity and economic integration,” he said.
