Kabul Serena Hotel has issued a statement announcing that it will suspend all its activities and services in Afghanistan.
Kabul Serena Hotel ceases operations
According to Amac News: Kabul Serena Hotel said in its statement that it will suspend its operations from today, Saturday, February 1.
The hotel, which was considered one of the most prestigious accommodation centers in the capital, did not specify the reason for this decision, but emphasized that its activities in nine other countries will continue.
During its nearly two decades of operation, Kabul Serena Hotel has hosted high-ranking domestic and international officials, diplomats and important travelers.
In addition to providing luxury services, this accommodation center was considered one of the main places for holding meetings, conferences and receiving foreign guests in Afghanistan. Also, the offices of some international organizations were located in this hotel, which will now be forced to relocate with its closure.
The decision comes as Afghanistan's economic situation continues to be challenging, with many foreign companies and international institutions scaling back or suspending their operations in recent months.
However, it is not yet clear what factors led to the hotel's closure and whether economic issues, a decline in the presence of foreign diplomats, or changes in the security situation played a role in the decision.
On the other hand, some economic analysts believe that the withdrawal of international hotels from Afghanistan could negatively impact foreign investment in the country and create further challenges for economic growth.
