According to Amac News, the Office of the Deputy Economic Minister of the Office of the Prime Minister of Afghanistan, said in a statement today (Saturday, February 22) that in this meeting, the two sides discussed the expansion of trade and transit relations, as well as investment by Uzbek businessmen in Afghanistan.
According to the statement, the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan announced that Tashkent is ready to establish a joint trade zone on the border of the two countries. In this zone, pine nut and cotton processing factories, packaging and logistics centers, and a number of food production factories are planned to be built.
Khajaev said that Uzbek investors are ready to cooperate with the Acting Government of Afghanistan in the field of oil and gas exploration and extraction in Afghanistan, investment in industry, and construction of a cement factory in Samangan province.
He added that good progress has been made in the exploration of the Toti gas field in Faryab province and its extraction will begin soon. On the other hand, the Deputy Minister of Economy of the Afghan Ministry of Ministers, welcoming the proposals of the Uzbek official, assured the caretaker government of cooperation in the aforementioned areas.
