According to Amac News: Deputy Minister of Transportation of Uzbekistan Jesorbek Churif has said that the "Afghan-Trans" railway project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
During the third international investment meeting in Tashkent, Mr. Churif said: "This project will help connect the three countries of Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan." Railways will play an important role in creating the Eurasian transport corridor. As a result, Central Asian countries will have access to an Indian Ocean port.
He noted that the railways will reduce the time of transporting goods from 35 days to 5 days and also the cost of transporting goods will be reduced by at least 40%.
The Afghan Trans railway project, which was proposed by Uzbekistan in December 2018, starts from Mazar-e-Sharif and continues to Karachi port in Paktia province. The cost of this project is estimated at seven billion dollars.
In this regard, Abdul Latif Nazari, Deputy Professional of the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan, says that with the completion of this project, Afghanistan will practically become a commercial connection point between the countries of Central Asia and South Asia.
